When Is Awana?
Awana will start in September and happen every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm till 8pm. Freshwater also hosts a dinner before Awana, so if your family is rushed, this is a nice time to stop by and relax.
What Is Awana?
Awana is a nondenominational, international, Bible-centered youth organization, designed to bring the Gospel of Christ to boys and girls and train them to serve Him. The acronym Awana comes from 2 Timothy 2:15: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.
Each weekly club meeting includes Game Time, where Clubbers compete around the unique Awana game circle; Handbook Time, during which clubbers work from their handbooks while interacting individually with their leaders; and Council Time, during which a Bible message is presented.
Awana encourages spiritual, social, physical and intellectual growth in children, using Bible-based curriculum and activities through which children learn the Word of God. The core of Awana is Bible memory. As the children work through their age-appropriate handbooks, they are motivated to hide God’s Word in their hearts through unique incentives and rewards. The curriculum also incorporates team-building through games that are fun and exciting. From the example of godly leaders, children learn how to apply the Word of God in their daily lives.
How much does Awana cost?
$25 dollars per child with a $65 dollar limit per family. These annual registration fees cover books, awards, prizes and uniforms.
*The fee for the first child will be waived for each parent who volunteers in AWANA (1 child for a family with one parent volunteer, 2 children for a family with 2 parent volunteers).
Want to volunteer?
If you would be interested in serving in our AWANA program this year, we are really in need of more volunteers to work with the kids! We have a need for both leaders and listeners in our program, especially leaders who are able to come each week and work with their team of children. There are 3 different AWANA groups you can help with! Cubbies (3 – Pre K) Sparks (K – 2nd) and our Truth and Training (Grades 3 – 5). If you’d like to volunteer, please visit the AWANA registration page and click on the Volunteer leader link. All that is needed is to submit the info for your volunteer application and background check.
