Papua New Guinea

The need is great in Papua New Guinea. We believe in taking the message of Jesus Christ to all the world.

Chris and Maggie Hostetter are members of Freshwater and missionaries with New Tribes Mission. God has called them to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to tribal people that have never heard in Papua New Guinea.

Maggie and Chris are graduates of Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. They met there in 2001 and tied the knot May 2003. They graduated from Crown in 2005 with B.A.s in Intercultural Studies. Living and working in the area where they graduated, Chris and Maggie spent the next three years paying off their school debt so they could enter the New Tribes’ Missionary Training Center.

Chris and Maggie also have four children. Micah Aaron (December 4, 2005), Cole Elias (May 20, 2007), Maisie Grace (July 24, 2009), and Bailey Joy (January 26, 2011)

In Papua New Guinea they will form a team with other New Tribes missionaries and move into a tribe that has never been taught the Bible. Chris and Maggie will learn their language and their way of life, and then teach them the Bible in their own language. They will disciple believers and work on translating the Bible. Their ultimate goals are to have a Church run by the tribal people, give them a full Bible translated into their tongue, and have that Church sending out its own people as missionaries to the next village and the next tribe.
